BCFC 1 - NORTH WEMBLEY EAGLES 2

After a successful start to the new season last week, Broadway Celtic were brought back down to earth with a bang. Due to a number of key players absent due to holiday and off watching Kerry, we almost scraped what would have been a fully deserved draw.

Broadway were much the better team in the first half with a number of chances going astray before the opposition broke away to take an undeserved lead. Broadway responded in great fashion and following a long diagonal cross from Tommy Moriarty, Ray "one foot" Fitzpatrick struck a sweet left foot volley into the bottom corner. Further chances for Ray & Liam Holly should have resulted in Broadway going in at half time in front but it wasnt to be.

A couple of injuries at half time meant that Broadway were down to a makeshift 11 and this made the second half an uphill struggle. The game wasnt as flowing as the first half and the chances were far and few between but Eagles managed to claim the spoils by latching onto a misplaced pass and squeezing the ball under a couple of challenges to take the points.

All in all a good start to the season for Broadway and the positives are there if we can get a full team out each week.
