Middlesex County Cup 1ST Round |
Broadway Celtic got their season off to a flying start with a 3-0 win over Bedfont Based opponents Bell on the Green at West Hendon Playing Fields on Sunday.
Broadway though had ex St Andrews keeper Paul O'Connor to thank for keeping the scores level when he he produced a magnificent reaction save after just 10 minutes to stop Broadway from falling behind. Broadway did eventually break the deadlock on 30 minutes when Chris O'Leary broke clear to cooley dispatch the ball past the Bell on the Green keeper to give Broadway a 1-0 half time lead. After this Broadway began to dominate and though they had O'Connor to thank again on the hour mark when he saved with his feet to preserve Broadway's lead. Broadway were never threatened after this and 2 goals in the last 20 minutes from Chris O'leary and a debut goal from Tommy Moriarty ensured Broadways safe progress to the next round.
