Broadway Celtic 0 Willesden Legionnaire 1
BCFC 1sts suffered a cruel defeat to league leaders Willesden Legionaire when a 55 minute mix up in the BCFC defence allowed legion to snatch the points.
The first half was 50 / 50 between two very evenly matched sides, BCFC had a good penalty appeal turned down though the best chance though fell to Willesden who should have taken the lead when their forward went clean through on the BCFC goal , he went wide of Lee Caffery in the BCFC goal before unleashing a goal bound shot only for Caffery to regain his positioning and produce an outstanding save to keep the ball out.

The 2nd half saw BCFC start brightly and when Gavin Dobbs found himself free in the area on 50 minutes a goal looked certain but his effort crashed back of the bar and Willesden breathed a big sigh of relief , Dobbs then found himself with the ball at his feet again in the box only for a Willesden player to sythe him down for a certain penalty (see photo below) but the Willesden got the benefit of referee Chris Kemps decision for the 2nd time in the game.
A certain penalty ! (above) , you decide ?
BCFC's agony at not getting a penalty was compounded when Nicky Wickham just 2 minutes later thought he heard a call from Lee in goal to 'go home' with the ball, he duly passed the ball to Lee in goal but Duncan the Willesden forward intercepted Nicky's backpass and rounded Lee for the 2nd time in the game and this time he made no mistake dispite Paul Wrights best efforts on the line , 1-0 Legion !
Paul Mcloughlin in defence tracks Duncan of the Legion (above) who sealed the win in this tight game !
BCFC piled forward in search of the goal that they believed had to come , in the last 10 minutes the Legion keeper kept the lead safe twice, first when he first saved from Brendan Hogan's low drive and then with seconds left Ryan Tanners spectacular 30 yard volley which he clawed out of the top corner.
1-0 it finished and if Legion do go onto lift the title they will look back on this fixture as crucial in that, i think they will be glad that they don't have to play us again because we matched them both times we played them and these two games v's legion have being a good yardstick of our own ability . The recent results v legion (1-1 and 0-1) tell us that only for for some early season inconsistency we'd be far higher up the table and will give anybody we play between now and the end of the season a good game .

Man of the Match for BCFC - Lee Caffery purely for that save in the first half !
