Willesden Legionnaire 1 BCFC 1ST's 1
BCFC produced another battling performance to put a dent in the Legions title hopes and edge themselves closer to safety in a closely contested division 2 clash at the Shamrock Club in Acton.
BCFC pose for a team shot ahead of the Legionnairre game
BCFC seemed to be up for this one from the start and they got straight into their stride with the first half 50-50 all the way with midfielder Shane Calbert playing his best football in 18 months and Paul Mcloughlin revalling in his new role at right back for the celts.

BCFC's 2 best chances in the opening half came when Ryan Tanner " The Beckham of Childs Hill" went close with a thunderous 30 yard shot that went just inches over , he later followed this up with a low drive that he just dragged a whisker past the legionnaire keepers far post.

Legion's Johny Marder a former player of a pre BCFC club (Cricklewood Trades Hall Rapide) back in 1995 almost came back to haunt us when his low drive hit the post though the legionnaire did eventually take the lead when a long free kick saw our defence not know whether to play offside or mark a man and this allowed a Legion player the opportunity to beat the offside trap and stroke the ball past Lee Caffery to make it 1-0 on 40 minutes.
Paul Wright (above) was in commanding form at the back !
BCFC weren't disheartened to be going in 1-0 down at half time came out for the 2nd half with Willy Murphy and Brendan Hogan tackling like men posessed, this made sure that we were winning our fair share of the ball and a good chance in front of goal seemed inevitable.
The equaliser came on 60 minutes when Gavin Dobbs collected a long ball in the area , he controlled it well and with the Legion Keeper bearing down on him he made his mind up to lift the ball over the keeper into the top corner which he duly did with perfection, 1-1 !
BCFC had chances to win it with BCFC's Luke Savage forcing the Legionnaire keeper to make an excellant save from his half volley 8 yards out but it remained 1-1 at the final whistle.
A great result for BCFC against a Legionnaire team who have lost only one league game in 18 months, morale is high the players are performing and the results are starting to reflect our work rate, all in all things are looking up for the firsts !
The result is also a major boost for Broadway Celtic 2nds who have collected a maximum 18 points from 6 games, their clash next week v todays hosts (Willesden Legionnaire) is now a massive 6 pointer for both teams.
Man of the match Paul Mcloughlin - My townie from east Mayo deserves this one, superb throughout, didn't put a foot wrong and got a few players out of trouble on more than one occassion , well done mate !
BCFC Caffery, Mcloughlin, P. Wright (capt) ,Wickham , Murphy , Hogan , King , Calbert , Savage , Dobbs , Tanner
Subs - Butterill (55) , Egan (70) , Brennan (85) not used Mcnulty and D. Wright
