The Deadly Dozen!

Real Kilbs 0 Broadway Celtic II 12 (twelve)

Broadway II followed up last week’s fine start to the season with an emphatic win over Real Kilbs. To say this was a game of two halves would be an understatement. After a lot of huffing and puffing in the first half (and that was just Macca on the sideline) Broadway came closet to scoring but remarkably the half finished 0-0. The second half started much the same and with 15 minutes gone assistant manager Rooney decided to change things around. He swapped Stu, who by then was blowing out of his arse for Steve Fortune. From here on in he will be known as Mick Hucknall after being christened with the name from the opposing team yesterday. From a corner Hucknall managed to turn and shoot the ball between the goalies legs to get Broadway the all important first goal of the game, he was so ecstatic he was literally holding back the tears!! Two more quick substitutions, Neil for Butler and Flash for PP inspired the team and this opened the floodgates. To be honest with you I can’t remember half the bleeding goals so here is a brief run down:

1 Hucknall – lucky low shot between goalies legs

2 OG – Good pressure form Quidsy forces defender to shoot into own net

3 Neil – Good cross

4 Razor – miss hit volley into the ground bounces over goalie

5 Razor – looping header

6 Quidsy – duffed left foot trickler into the corner

7 Quidsy – header from defender onto his head and into corner (pools panel decision)

8 Brendan (I think) – header from corner

9 Hayes – header following cross from Razor – yes that’s right, Razor passed.

10 Hayes – lost his defender and slotted home

11 Hayes – Received the ball from Kelly and hit the ball on the turn for a sweet finish

12 Crabbsy – beat 2 defenders and finished well

There were a number of good performances yesterday, Ryan continuing to impress in his new role at the back along with entire defence but it is going forward where we have improved from last year. Razor is even crossing the ball; Kelly is in fine form and is even likening himself to Beckham at the moment, that’s Romeo as they are the same height. Mark Hayes continues to find the net and that is also a main difference from last year, we now have an out and out striker with a bit of pace. No offence to the other slow boats up front!!

Man of the match: Mark Hayes for the quality of his finishing

Team: Team: Keegan, PP, Brendan, Stu, Ryan, Quiddsy, Crabbsy, Butler, Kelly, Hayes, Razor, (subs Hucknall on for Stu, Neil on for Butler, Flash on for PP

BCFC 1 Dutch Lions 3

First things first, Dutch Lions deserved to win but from a BCFC point of view things can only and will i'm sure get better, with Lee due back in goals ,Timmy Mullin,Wayne Mullin,Danny Mulcahy,Paul Wright,Nicky Harman and Kevin King,Paul Mcloughlin and the absent Aussies to return to the matchday squad things should improve. Dutch Lions deserved the win but i hope they don't go away thinking that this performance was representitive of our club (we are better than this or at least i hope so)

We are very much a team in transition at the moment but i'm certain we can get things right for the league and cup games as long as we turn up every week and not disapeer just because its only a friendly.

By Christmas we will know how close we are to getting get back to where were 2 years ago.

Well done to Dean for standing in for the absent Lee in goal and not forgetting Dutch Lions on their win, for a view of Dutch Lions match report please click the link below

BCFC 2 REAL KILBS 0 (REPORT IN WEDNESDAYS LOCAL PAPER THE WILLESDEN AND BRENT / KINGSBURY TIMES) Real Kilbs put up a stronger show than expected and they looked like they were going to nab a draw till Danny's 25 yard thunderbolt gave us the lead on 82 minutes, Kilbs had few chances up to this point but our defence start to panic in the last few minutes for no reason almost allowing Kilbs an equaliser on a couple of occassions but Lee Caffery was in superb form in goal, New signing from the Castle FC Ryan Tanner curled in a 25 yard free kick late on and the 3 points were in the bag, fair play to Kilbs who i think will take points of teams this year, as for BCFC a great start with 4 new signings on show and several players missing it was all about the result. Man of the match a tough one but we'll go for player manager Danny Mulcahy who never stopped trying and scored a wonder goal to win the game !

BCFC II 6 NLO 0

Broadway Celtic II got there season off to a flying start with an impressive 6-0 win over NLO II even with a number of first team players missing. After a sloppy opening 20 minutes or so where newly wed Peter Butler continually gave the ball away to opposing team, Broadway began to find there feet and it wasn’t long before Razor volleyed in sweetly for the opener. Mark Hayes fully rejuvenated from his year long loan deal with Sydney FC followed up by turning his marker (more luck than judgement), racing clear only to be foiled by the keeper, not one to be outdone he decided to kick the ball out of the goalies hands for the second of the game. He then followed up with his second and the teams 3rd with a snapshot volley from a poor clearance that caught the keeper off guard as well as himself as he doesn’t usually get more than one shot a game on target. NLO did have a couple of half chances in the first half but a combination of good defending and goalkeeping dealt with the threat. The second half saw Broadway dominate the game in midfield with dogged performances from Crabbsy & Butler and after a couple of good chances went astray Quiddsy smashed in an unstoppable shot after good work from Mark Hayes. With the game over the management decided to shuffle his pack and substituted Mark Hayes as he was suffering from Shakinees! Mark Kelly was pushed up front and after good work from Razor he controlled the ball and lobbed the goalie and it wasn’t long before he got his second and the teams 6th on the day with his second lob on the day. Overall a very satisfactory start to the season with numerous goal scoring opportunities, lots of goals and a clean sheet thanks to the marvellous defence. There will be tougher challenges ahead so let’s keep our feet on the ground and continue to improve with each game.

Man of the match was a toughie but PP just edges it for keeping “Flex” in his pocket all game and amazing his team mates with a burst of speed that had to be seen to be believed.

Team: Keegan, PP, Brendan, Stu, Ryan, Quiddsy, Crabbsy, Butler, Kelly, Hayes, Razor, (subs Farrell on for Hayes & Micky Rooney on for Stu)
