Broadway Celtic 2nd's 0 Seven Ball (Wealdstone) 2
Harrow Sunday Challange Division 2
Broadway Celtic Res started their 1st season in the Harrow league with a 2-0 defeat to a young Seven Ball side at Northwick Park this Sunday.
BCFC Reserves have being in operation for 9 of the 12 seasons BCFC as a club has being going but seldom has it being so hard getting a team out, mind you i left the pitch full of hope for the future given that overall despite starting the 1st 35 minutes with only 10 men and with only a fraction of our team from last year we put in a credible performance against a newly promoted Seven Ball side.
In short though i'm confident the shortage of players expierenced v's Seven ball was just a temporary situation !
On reflection we didn't deserve to win but a draw wasn't beyond us , we also enjoyed a large share of the play (45% i guess) and given that there were several key players missing we can be proud off our performance and i can gueninely say that nobody had a bad game.
As for the game itself well i thought the ref was wrong to award the foul that led to the opening goal on 35 minutes, Steve Fortune looked to have got the ball and Lee Caffery nursing a freshly sprained ankle stood no chance as he watched helplessly as the ball floated into the net .
J.A (above)showed some true grit up front and in defence
The second goal on 70ish minutes was more of a scramble and one of those things that happens as you tire when you haven't hardly played in 6 months but as the season progress's we'll defend these moments better.
Fair play to all the new lads including the 3 kiwis ( kiwi Scott is pictured above) lets hope we can turn things around as the season progress's
A couple of quick things
The presentation night is in the ox and gate NW2 on friday 26/10/07 for both teams
and there will be a few drinks laid on (about £50 worth) after this weekends county cup in the ox and gate for the BCFC reserve team to welcome the new lads and just to have a bit of craic
there are also rugby shirts on the way for both teams !!!!!
