Man of the match BCFC II keeper Peter Keegan

BCFC II beat their first team counterparts to move within one win of the division 2 title but if this was a boxing match it would have gone down to a split decision.

The match was only 3 minutes old though when Chris O'Leary put BCFC II ahead, a far post cross was not dealt with by the BCFC I defence and O'Leary controlled well to drill into Lee Caffery's far post corner to score what was ultimately the winner.

BCFC though came close to the equaliser 3 times before half time firstly when Shane Calbert beat BCFC II keeper Peter Keegan to a long ball but his goalbound lob was headed away , Ryan Tanner then found space in the box but he could not lift the ball over Peter Keegan and then on the stoke of half time Kevin Mcloughlin found himself with only Keegan to beat but Keegan made a stunning save to prevent the scores from going leval into half time.

BCFC II started the second half more brightly as by this time they knew they were very much in a game and were going to get no favours of the first team.

David Carroll had the best chance for BCFC II but he blasted over from 4 yards out and a stunning 25 yard drive from Mark Kelly just went wide of Lee Cafferys upright.

Then came the 2nd half's pivitiol moment when on 75 minutes when BCFC 1st's Ryan Tanner broke down the flank and slid a low cross into the path of Kevin Mcloughlin who looked odds-on to equalise but the ball got trapped underneath his feet as he slid in but thundering in behind him was BCFC 1st's Brendan Hogan who smashed the ball from 3 yards out but somehow Peter Keegan got in the way of the ball to save the day for BCFC II.

So it finished 1-0 but both teams done themselves proud and laid to rest any rumours that the firsts would give the seconds the 3 points that know now mean they have to beat either Highgate Albion 2nds or Willesden Legionnaire in one of their last 2 games to be crowned division 2 champions.
